A Positive Catalyst

It was two years ago today that I lost my foot after twenty previous surgeries. I woke up right out of surgery and said “I want to walk.” I took three steps with a walker and then five later that evening. That became my mantra—ONE more step each day to get my life back! And I had to fight. I received my first prosthesis at the end of February 2017. In one one year from then, I was walking, running, swimming and ran a 5K. Now, I am training for the Paralympic trials next summer. I am writing a book about positivity and my life’s experiences. By the time I was 30, I lost my grand parents, parents. A brother and a sister and them rolled into twenty-one surgeries in seventeen years end with the amputation of my left foot. I have seen and learned so much. POSITIVITY is what has gotten me through all of these challenges. This journey continues to make me a better person everyday!

If anyone can learn anything from my journey that is a great day for me. I love life…every day! It’s great to pain free and thriving again in life. I continue to help more and more amputees…first to give them hope and then to get them to believe in themselves! Then. they are on their way. I will start speaking publicly early in the new year. I have crossed the river and am wading back in to help as many across as I can. There is a real purpose to this journey as I feel that it is a calling to help others. In a nut shell, woe is not me! Thank you those who have supported me throughout this journey when so many others walked away because I was “different.” The great news is that this will never define me, I am still Colin and a better person because of my experiences. Live life, love life, love your family and friends! NEVER, EVER GIVE UP!! Life is so precious!!! EMBRACE POSITIVITY!!! KEEP SMILING!!!
